What is PIENO
What is PIENO
PIENO is a system aiming to simplify refueling for people. Thanks to a CAN Access Module (CAM) it automatically detects when a car needs to top up and notifies the PIENO app. Thanks to its integration with national fuel station databases, the PIENO app is informed about the optimal fuel station, by calculating the one which would be cheapest to fill up at, including the cost of the fuel to reach it, and the cost of the fuel to fill up the tank.
PIENO is open-source. Its code can be found on GitHub. A comprehensive description of its architecture and functioning can be found in the academic paper we published on IEEE Access about it.

In order for PIENO to be compatible with more vehicles, volunteers are needed to reverse engineer more vehicles.
The process is thoroughly described in our research paper.
